I Quit…A Song

I got the words of a poem from a friend and decided to put it to music. So I am posting it here for all to hear. I hope You enjoy it. I will post the lyrics as well. Now please understand that this is acapella, as my acoustic guitar is broken. The Chords are on a png at the bottom.

I Quit

I Quit (words by Glenn Todd/ music by Jim Ley)

Verse 1

I’ve held back tears and faced my fears,

Those demons now behind me.

I’ve spun the wheel and made the deal,

Those chains no longer bind me.

Chorus

I’ve been through hell

I know it well,

I’ve walked it with a smile.

But that was when we still were friends,

Out on the Crooked Mile.

Verse 2

I still think of you but with each day passing,

The spell you cast….it’s not lasting.

And everyday as I grow stronger,

The desires I craved become no longer.

Chorus

I’ve been through hell

I know it well,

I’ve walked it with a smile.

But that was when we still were friends,

Out on the Crooked Mile.

Verse 3

The strangle hold you had on me,

I broke the mold….I’ve been set free.

That’s it…I’ve kicked…I’m done…I quit,

I’m going to fix my life and what I’ve done to it.

Chorus

I’ve been through hell

I know it well,

I’ve walked it with a smile.

But that was when we still were friends,

Out on the Crooked Mile.

Verse 4 (closing)

I’ve been center stage,

And filled with rage.

I’m going to clear the air,

I’m going to turn the page.

FINI

Hey don’t be afraid to enter some Constructive Criticism. I haven’t chorded a poem in a very long time, If you think a different chord would work instead of the ones that are there, let me know.
