God Loves YOU!!!!

God. The Great I Am. Jehovah. The God Of Abraham, Issac, Jacob and Jesus Christ. He created this world and the entire universe that we live in.

Genesis 1:1-5

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light day, and the darkness He called night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day.”

6 days it took Him to create this universe and the ball of dust that we call home. 6 days to create all the things on this ball of dust. 6 days to prepare it for His greatest creation. Man. He created us perfect. We were set in a garden with everything that we needed. We were able to commune with God at any given time. He would walk the garden and take care of us and talk with us. All we had to do was obey Him in one thing.

Genesis 2:15-17

15 Then the Lord God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it. 16 The Lord God commanded the man, saying, “From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; 17 but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.”

That was it. No big deal right. No problem but alas there was a problem. The devil had come into the garden and tickled Eve’s ear. He whispered sweet nothings in her ear and she listened. She listened and the devil smiled. Now understand this, the devil is not a god. He is not a demi-god. He is a created being just like us. God created him!

(Ezekiel 28:11-19)

11 Again the word of the Lord came to me saying, 12 “Son of man, take up a lamentation over the king of Tyre and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord God,

“You had the seal of perfection,
Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.
13 “You were in Eden, the garden of God;
Every precious stone was your covering:
The ruby, the topaz and the diamond;
The beryl, the onyx and the jasper;
The lapis lazuli, the turquoise and the emerald;
And the gold, the workmanship of your settings and sockets,
Was in you.
On the day that you were created
They were prepared.
14 “You were the anointed cherub who covers,
And I placed you there.
You were on the holy mountain of God;
You walked in the midst of the stones of fire.
15 “You were blameless in your ways
From the day you were created
Until unrighteousness was found in you.
16 “By the abundance of your trade
You were internally filled with violence,
And you sinned;
Therefore I have cast you as profane
From the mountain of God.
And I have destroyed you, O covering cherub,
From the midst of the stones of fire.
17 “Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty;
You corrupted your wisdom by reason of your splendor.
I cast you to the ground;
I put you before kings,
That they may see you.
18 “By the multitude of your iniquities,
In the unrighteousness of your trade
You profaned your sanctuaries.
Therefore I have brought fire from the midst of you;
It has consumed you,
And I have turned you to ashes on the earth
In the eyes of all who see you.
19 “All who know you among the peoples
Are appalled at you;
You have become terrified
And you will cease to be forever.”’”

You think that for the garden and being looked after, they would be thankful and obey God. They would be content to live in perfection but alas no. Eve listened to the snake and of course Adam listened to Eve. Eve bit of the apple and found that it was good and so she convinced Adam to do the same.

The Snake knew what he was doing and he did it with perfection. He had convinced them to eat of the apple. He was thankful. He had corrupted the only two on the planet. He had done his job well. He had gained two new followers or at least he thought he did.

So God is walking through the garden and calls out of Adam and he does not answer. He calls again and still no answer. Finally Adam answers.

Genesis 3 is the story of the fall of Man. It is too long to put in here so I will leave it to you to look it up and read it.

Man learned about good and evil. He also learned that he was well..stupid! He listened to the Evil one. He let himself be fooled. So where does that leave him. Ashamed and scared. He never noticed that he was naked before. But now he does. He never realized that he could loose everything. Now he does and he does loose everything.

God came walking through the garden to commune with Adam but they hid in fear. God called out to him and Adam replied.

“I heard the sound of You in the garden and I was afraid.”

“Why were you afraid?”

“Because I am naked and did not want you to see me that way.”

“Who said you were naked? Did you eat of the tree I told you not to eat from?”

And so begins the idea of “passing the buck“.

Adam replied

“The woman that you gave me gave me the apple and convinced me to eat of it.”

God replied

“What have you done? Did you do this awful thing?”

Eve replied

“The serpent deceived me and I ate of the apple!”

So God curses the serpent to move along the ground by way of his belly.

That is the simple retelling of the fall of man. It can also be boiled down to this one line. “The fall of man is because of a chick that didn’t know a line when she heard one and a dude that didn’t know how to keep his mouth shut!”

All kidding aside. God created man for what purpose.  “God put man on the earth to reflect His image and to rule over the creation (Gen. 1:26, 28).”  Why create a universe if there is no one to do anything with it. It would shrivel up and die. So God created man to rule over the land, the see and all the animals.

God created the world for His greatest creation. US. We were given the keys to the kingdom and instead of treasuring them, we trampled them into the ground like rocks. We sinned a great sin and God could have destroyed us right then and there, but He didn’t. He did however “curse us”. We had it made and we tossed it away.

Genesis 3:16

16 To the woman he said,

“I will make your pains in childbearing very severe;
    with painful labor you will give birth to children.
Your desire will be for your husband,
    and he will rule over you.”

17 To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’

“Cursed is the ground because of you;
    through painful toil you will eat food from it
    all the days of your life.
18 It will produce thorns and thistles for you,
    and you will eat the plants of the field.
19 By the sweat of your brow
    you will eat your food
until you return to the ground,
    since from it you were taken;
for dust you are
    and to dust you will return.”

20 Adam named his wife Eve, because she would become the mother of all the living.

Now understand this, God is God. He could have destroyed them but he didn’t Why, because like any Father, He is patient with his children. So he did the following.

Genesis 21-24

21 The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them. 22 And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.”

23 So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. 24 After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.

God is a God of love. Some say that He is a god of anger. The fall of man story says otherwise. If God was a god of anger, He would have destroyed Adam and Eve and the devil and started all over again. But he didn’t. Adam started fresh only now instead of having everything handed to him on a silver platter, he had to work for it.

God loves us. He loves us for we are His creation. People say that “God Hates the Sinner” that is so not true. God hates the SIN but loves the SINNER! and if you would like Proof…read Genesis 3!

Satan Music ! Please!

“There ain’t no such thing as a bad note, Just bad intentions.”

“It’s not the music, it’s the message.”

Rock and roll is from the Devil. Poppycock. The Devil inspired it. Poppycock. The Devil gave him the ability. Poppycock. The Devil gave him the gift. Poppycock.

Rock and Roll is music. Music is not bad, if it were then all music would be of the devil. From the quiet worship song to the African tribal music and so on and so forth.

Psalm 150:3-5

“3 Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,
    praise him with the harp and lyre,
praise him with timbrel and dancing,
    praise him with the strings and pipe,
praise him with the clash of cymbals,
    praise him with resounding cymbals.”

Psalm 33:1-4

“1 Sing for joy in the Lord, O you righteous ones;
Praise is becoming to the upright.
2 Give thanks to the Lord with the lyre;
Sing praises to Him with a harp of ten strings.
3 Sing to Him a new song;
Play skillfully with a shout of joy.
4 For the word of the Lord is upright,
And all His work is done in faithfulness.”

Psalm 81:1-2

“1 Sing for joy to God our strength; Shout joyfully to the God of Jacob. 2 Raise a song, strike the timbrel, The sweet sounding lyre with the harp.”

The Bible is full of musical references. Almost everyone is about worshiping or praising the Lord. The only difference from Bible times and today is the instrument. Back then it was the lyre and the cymbals and the harp. Today it is the guitar, bass and drums oh and keyboards. Had David had the keyboard, imagine the music he could have come up with.

I have heard that some singers today have a gift from Satan. That is a lie from the same Satan. The gift that the singers have are a gift from God. It’s what they did or do with those gifts that were given to them. A singer that starts with a band that makes it big in the secular world are treated like they are from the devil even though they are not anything of the kind. They chose to use those gifts to sing about stuff that mattered to them. Then somewhere down the road, they took a different path. Maybe it was drugs or alcohol or maybe a combination of both. They squandered the gift they had been given and they floundered.

They go into a pit that they think that they can never get out of. Which is of course not true. Satan gets in there and starts saying things and suggesting things that dig the pit deeper and deeper. That is because the person believes it. They listen to the lies and fall prey to the evil one and his petty games. They start to believe their own press. They think that the gifts were not given by God but rather Satan.

Each gift is a gift from God. Each gift is specific to that person. Yes many are singers or guitarists or drummers and so on and so forth. But each is a special gift.

I can play guitar. Have been for 40 years. Am I an Eddie Van Halen or a Bob Hartman. No and I never will be. I can play the drums. Can I play like a Louie Weaver or a Neil Peart (from Rush.) Nope and I never will be able to. They have had years of training and years of practice. Does that mean my gift is any different from theirs. Nope. I can sing. Is my singing better than a John Schlitt or an Alice Cooper. Nope. They have had chances that I never had. Where I sang or played with worship teams, they made it to the stage and sang or played in front of millions of people over their entire careers. A gift is a gift and it is what you do with it.

Motley Crue and Def Leppard. Rush or Poison. Do they play devil music. No they don’t. You may not like the music they make but that’s okay. Until I was in my 40’s, I never appreciated Crue’s music and the same with the rest of them. They are a bunch of really gifted guys that took those gifts and did what they wanted to do with them. But to say those gifts are a gift from Satan is the worst lie that you can believe.

Each of their gifts are a gift from God. Theirs to use as they see fit. We sit in judgement of them and say they play devil music. That’s poppycock. Could they have used their music to praise the Lord. If they were Christians, sure but maybe they are not. They play secular rock and roll. So should we judge them for that, ummm no.

John 7:13

“Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and [a]by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?

Jesus was very plain. Judge not. It doesn’t say..”It’s okay to judge.”

“Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes!

Is there bad music out there. Yup sure is. Do we have to listen to it. Nope. We pick and choose the music we want to listen to. I listen to a whole lot of different music. Classical, Rock, Blues, Jazz, Funk, Disco, Country, Christian Rock, Praise and Worship.

So what is the point of this little letter. Well I heard it put once that Christian Rock was of the Devil. It was the same grinding music and tones that Secular Rock uses. That is a lie of the Devil. Now am I saying all Christian Rock bands are good. Nope. I have heard my share of them that well truthfully, should have picked a different path and the Lord closed the door before they even began. But there are those Christian bands that have stayed true to their calling. They present Christ in a way that works. They bring people to the Lord. They show that you can have the loud guitars and still praise the Lord.

Music is universal. It crosses barriers, time zones, country borders. It even crosses religions to some extent. I enjoy a little Arabian music now and then. I have heard some beautiful Buddhist music. Is it all from the Devil, not on your life. So before you judge, listen. Don’t listen to a few notes. Listen to the entire song or album. Learn a little before you judge. You might learn something and gain an appreciation for something that you have never heard before! You might even come to the conclusion that a little Rock n Roll is a good thing. But some people will still disagree.

As an example I give you John Lennon’s “Imagine.”

When the song came out, people rallied against it. They said that it was a song against Christianity. It was a song against religion in general. When in fact it was nothing of the kind.

Imagine…there’s no heaven!

He didn’t say there is no heaven. He said Imagine.

Imagine…..there’s no countries!

Again He said Imagine!

But the world said that He was saying this was the way we were to go. They judged John Lennon before he was able to say what the song was about. They didn’t bother to listen past the first and second verse. In fact the song is a beautiful song that speaks of a utopia that can never exist.

“Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world…”

Can you imagine all the people living together. Not while there are so many differences in ideologies and religions. It will never happen. Music is music. Whether it be the hardest rock or the softest of worship songs. To be able to sing and play is a gift from God. Plain and simple. As I said before, it crosses borders and ideologies. It is not a gift from Satan. This kind of gift can only be given by God. For it is a beautiful thing.

‘Keep Looking Up! His Coming Is Soon!”

One Father.

Father of One Please!

Will the real Father please stand up. Seems we have so many fathers that we can’t swing a cat without hitting one or scratching one. We have our natural fathers, those being the ones that helped make us and reared us and that we call dad. Then we have those fathers that are friends and that for no reason at all we call dad cause they mean something to us. Then we have those fathers that we call father cause we are expected to for they are priests. Then we have the original Father. The one that by creating the universe and our galaxy and solar system then us, is our Father in Heaven.

Jehovah, Lord God, God, Adonai, Father God. Whatever you call Him, He is the Father of us all. So why am I writing this. Well, something has always bothered me about calling someone who is not your father, father. We call a priest in the Catholic Church Father but it is not a biblical title. People say that we call them that out of respect. Poppycock. So now that I have managed to insult the Catholic Priesthood, let share something that for some, they don’t know about.

First let’s have a dictionary lesson.

Hyperbole is a word that is often misused. It is used to explain something that someone either doesn’t understand  what the word actually means or to use the word so that they don’t have to agree with you.

Hy·per·bo·le.

(noun)

“A figure of speech in which exaggeration is used for emphasis or effect, as in I could sleep for a year or This book weighs a ton.”

Now I know that Jesus did use hyperbole at times to explain Himself. That is why He spoke in parables but this passage is not a parable or a sort of thing. It is a command. He didn’t say the word “sorta” anywhere in the passage. He meant what He said. Jesus never minced words. He never said anything that He didn’t mean. When He said something, everyone could understand it.

“Call NO one Father but the ONE who created you, which is in heaven.” Matt 23:9

That is a very clear statement. We have ONE spiritual Father, which is God Himself. We are to call no one else Father. Not Ministers, Priests, Bishops or Pope. They are not the One that created us. They are not holy or perfect. None of them.

All through the news while the Pope was here, I kept hearing that he was the Holy Father. Have you all forgotten there is only ONE Holy Father. The One that sent His only begotten Son to earth so that He could set us free. He created you me and everything living thing on the planet. He did it so that His ultimate creation would have a place and a reason to live. HE created us. HE is our one and only Holy Father. NONE other.

“Call NO one Father but the ONE who created you, which is in heaven.” Matt 23:9

Jesus commanded it. He did not make it a suggestion or some kind of advice. He didn’t say, “Call NO one Father but the ONE who created you, which is in heaven but it’s okay to call your earthly spiritual leaders father.”

“Call NO one Father but the ONE who created you, which is in heaven.” Matt 23:9

That was what He said. It’s sad that we have forgotten who the Creator is. It’s sad that He has been pushed aside for a man who is flawed. A flawed man who is called the Holy Father. He is given the same position as the Lord God. Well hate to tell you folks, I have one Holy Father. He is not a man who lives in some castle made of man. My Holy Father, lives in Heaven and is there to comfort me. I don’t have to go through this person or that person or that ceremony. I get to go to Him directly. I get to stand before Him with all my warts and scars and call him Abba Father.

When Jesus died the veil that hung between the sanctuary and the Holy of Holies was torn in half. It’s too bad that some have erected that veil again and made it that we have to beg for an audience. I am free to God directly.

“Keep Looking Up, His Is Coming Soon!”

Let’s Talk About Sex…..Baby!!!

Got Ya!!!!!

We aren’t actually going to talk about sex folks. We are gonna talk about something more important……God!!!!! What does He have to do with SEX!!! Personally…everything. In a relationship..everything. In our walk with God….everything. He created sex for us to enjoy each other (male and female). We have sexual needs, each and everyone of us. To put it in the vernacular of today…we all need to get off sexually. We need to have that sexual release that make us feel loved and enjoyed.

So what does that have to do with God, Jesus and the bible. The bible is a treasure trove of knowledge. Sex was created by God (Gen 1:27-28) 27God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”…

Now before you go off and think, he is going to bash Homosexuals, not gonna happen. We is talking sex not sexual orientation. That is not why I decided to write this little item. I actually don’t care. well I do care but we can save that for another time.

God created sex so that man would multiply and spread all over the world and to His great delight, it worked! Man reproduced like bunny rabbits and we spread like wildfire. We covered the entire world and we did it with such glee and gusto.

God created sex not just for reproduction. He created it so that we as humans could form a union with our partner. (Gen. 2:23-25)

“23 The man said,

“This is now bone of my bones,
And flesh of my flesh;
She shall be called Woman,
Because [c]she was taken out of [d]Man.”

24 For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh. 25 And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.”

So sex creates a union between a man and a woman. A bond that is strong and good. Leon Patillo said it best in his Song “Flesh Of My Flesh.” You can check out the song here by Leon Patillo.

God also created sex for help. As humans not only are flawed, we are also in need of a good helper. Be it a man or a woman. (Gen 2:18) “18 Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.” Now I know that this verse actually concerns the woman. She was created to help man. But I think that we can use it for both sexes. Truth be told, we both need help from time to time. When we are sick or laid up with a injury. Man might be strong but (and as i am a man i can testify to this) men are wimps when we get injured or are sick.

As I said before, sex was created for procreation. (Gen 4:10) “Now the man had relations with his wife Eve, and she conceived and gave birth to Cain, and she said, “I have gotten a manchild with the help of the Lord.” We have sex to increase the population of the earth. We do cause we are driven to. We do so because we need to.

God created sex so that we might calm our needs. Proverbs says in Chapter 5:17-19

17 Let them be yours alone
And not for strangers with you.
18 Let your fountain be blessed,
And rejoice in the wife of your youth.
19 As a loving hind and a graceful doe,
Let her breasts satisfy you at all times;
Be exhilarated (intoxicated) always with her love.

The same can be said of woman. Let her rejoice in the husband of her youth. Be intoxicated by him as he loves her in the only way that he can. Let her rejoice when she is taken by her husband and let her feel the joy of their union.

So sex is between a man and a woman. For reproduction, enjoyment, fulfillment, for the joy of it.

The Defiant Child!

I am God’s defiant child. One of many actually. We all fall down and He reaches down to pick us up. He tells us that He loves us (even with all our scars) and brushes us off and sends us on our way. He loves us with a never ending love that is unconditional. He comforts us and disciplines us just like any other Father would do.

Romans 3:23 -24

 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus;”

I am a sinner. No doubt about it. I do it everyday. I do it without thinking and sometimes I do it with full knowledge of what I am doing or saying. I fall short of the glory of God everyday. We all do. We say things and think things and do things that we either know or don’t know that we are doing.

We see a pretty lady walking down the street. We say, “oh she’s pretty.” but instead of moving on we look back as she walks away as that thought pops into our head. We have all done it. Male and female. It’s not the first look that gets you it’s the second. That infamous second look. There we go, we just committed sin and we know we did. We don’t think another lick about it. We sit and then we realize that we just did it. We beg forgiveness and we get it.

Romans 24 goes on to say “But by the free gift of God’s grace all are put right with him through Christ Jesus, who sets them free.”

The free gift is salvation through Jesus Christ. Jesus died for us and did so willingly. For a sacrifice to be a true sacrifice, it has to be done so willingly. So does that say that the sacrifices of the old testament are not the same. No. What it says is that Christ’s sacrifice was the last one. God sacrificed His Son so that we might be free. Free from the slavery of sin.

Does this mean that we, as Christians, have free reign to sin as we like. Not on your life. Does it mean that we can do what ever we like. Not on your life. What it means is that although we are sinners and always will be, we are not perfect, just forgiven. We follow the path that Jesus walked and sometimes we lose sight of  that path. Sometimes it is an accidental walk off the path and sometimes it is purposeful.

As Christians, we have a Living GOD. A Righteous GOD. A perfect GOD. God is is omnipresent. He is all knowing, All seeing and all powerful. He leads is in His path and yup, we sometimes stray. He doesn’t threaten us or beat us or even treats us like crap. He loves us. He welcomes us back with open arms.

Just like the father that took his son back, even though he had spent his inheritance on wine, women and song.  He could have sent him away but instead he ordered the fatted cow to be slain and cooked. The best wines and the best foods were served at a party. For his son was lost and now found again.

Putting it simply. God sent His only begotten Son, to die for us. Jesus was born to die. Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice. The innocent lamb. John the apostle called Jesus the Lamb of God. For the sins of the world could only be washed away by an innocent Lamb.

I took Jesus as my own almost 40 years ago. I have walked with Him and talked with Him. I surrendered my life and soul to him. He washed away my sin with His precious blood. He made me clean but I am still on this earth. I still sin for I am human. I am faulty but I have joy in the knowledge that when this earthly body is done and buried in the ground. My soul will go to be with the Father and I will sing His praise forevermore and I will do so with such gusto.

If you don’t know the Jesus I know, give Him a shot. You won’t be disappointed. He loves you!

I once asked Jesus “How much do you love me?” He said “This much.” Then He spread his arms and died for me.

Don’t let the free gift of salvation slip through your hands. Once you have it, it will be yours forever. He will never take it away from you.
